About this event:
Join Bhaav at ToLY for an evening of blissful music, vibrant community, and uplifted hearts. Bhaav will take us on a journey to a special place of love, and a devotion to the study and exploration of Indian Classical Music and diverse traditions of World Music through Kirtan and Sacred Chant!
BHAAV is a Sanskrit word which expresses a feeling of spiritual love and devotion. This is the chosen name for a very special group of Kirtan artists composed of: Christine Ghezzo (Vocals and Harmonium), Catherine Dana Costa (Vocals, Flute, Guitar), Barry Skeete (Percussion), and Steve Blom (Guitar and Sound Textures).
For those new to Kirtan, it is an ancient tradition of call and response chanting from India, in which the leader sings a short phrase (Mantra) and the audience sings it in response. The energy that builds between all participants is very uplifting, powerful and intended to raise the vibration individually and as a community. The Mantras (Sanskrit Prayers) are a direct form of communication with the Divine, each one containing special energy within the very sound of the words. No prior experience with chanting or singing is needed, only an open heart and a willingness to connect. The words and music are easy to join in, and each chant was created so that all people can experience the beauty of this practice.
Please bring your own cushion or blanket on which to sit.
